How much do online private English lessons cost?
Short answer: at English with Hilani, an online one-to-one 60-minute lesson costs R$ 180 (Conversation) or R$ 220 (Business English) as a single lesson, and R$ 160 to R$ 210 per lesson in the monthly packages: Conversation, 4 lessons for R$ 680 or 8 for R$ 1,280; Business English, 4 lessons for R$ 840 or 8 for R$ 1,600. The 30-minute diagnostic lesson is free. For reference, Superprof, a platform that lists many teachers, reports an average of R$ 57 per hour for online private English lessons in Brazil, which is lower than Hilani’s price. The platform itself explains that the price varies with the teacher’s experience and the frequency and length of the lessons. Prices are in Brazilian reais (BRL).

Is the 8-lesson package or a single lesson better value?
The package is cheaper per lesson. In Conversation, 4 single lessons would cost R$ 720 (versus R$ 680 for the package) and 8 single lessons R$ 1,440 (versus R$ 1,280). In Business English, 4 single lessons would cost R$ 880 (versus R$ 840) and 8 would cost R$ 1,760 (versus R$ 1,600). A single lesson suits trying things out or irregular schedules; the package lowers the cost and gives you regularity, which tends to pay off.
How much do online private English lessons cost on the market?
For a public reference, on 1 October 2026 we checked Superprof, a platform where each teacher sets their own price. Its online English page reports an average of R$ 57 per hour for private lessons in Brazil, and its São Paulo page reports R$ 61 per hour. These are averages of listings on a single platform, not a market survey.
To compare honestly: Hilani’s program costs R$ 160 to R$ 220 per 60-minute lesson, above those averages. A platform lists very different profiles, and the average price reflects that mix. If your main criterion is the lowest price and you only want to practice conversation without structure, a platform may suit you. If you want a written plan, progress tracking and lessons taught by a teacher who is a co-author of the Brick by Brick textbook series, that is the format this program offers. Neither route guarantees results: they depend on regularity and practice.

How do you compare prices of private English lessons?
- Compare the price per lesson, not just the monthly or advertised hourly figure
- Check the actual length of the lesson (60 minutes or less)
- See whether the lesson is one-to-one or in a group, and who the teacher is
- Ask what comes with the price: study plan, error correction, progress report
- Read the rescheduling, cancellation and lock-in rules
- Ask for a trial or diagnostic lesson before paying
